Yewfield is a vegetarian/vegan guest house with 8o acres of herb-rich meadows, woodland and gardens. We take our environmental responsibilities seriously particularly in light of the current climate and biodiversity crises.
Food: vegetarian/vegan breakfast menu with organic cereals and milks on the buffet
Recycling: paper, cardboard, cans, glass and hard plastic bins are all on site; all food waste is composted and rain water collected for use in our organic gardens
Heating and hot water: provided by a 150 kilowatt biomass boiler since 2012, using local plantation thinnings
Electric car charger on site
Land management: our land and gardens are managed primarily to enhance habitat and species diversity; we have 60 acres of mostly native forest and wood pasture, 18 acres of herb-rich hay and wetland meadows, and two acres of gardens, all of which help to offset our carbon emissions as well as attracting wildlife (more information can be found in the garden blog). An illustrated leaflet of walks through our land and going on to local beauty spots such as Tarn Hows is available at Reception.
